Resilient Office Building being recognized
GCG’s latest LEED-BD+C Gold certified project, 9800 Metcalf, is being recognized by Mid-America Regional Council MARC and Climate Action KC at the Resilient Success Stories event being held December 9, 2022, at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
Kompass Kapital own’s and occupies this office building which was a major modernization of an existing building. The office features a host of innovative sustainable solutions. There is a 22,000-gallon rainwater capture cistern onsite used for both irrigation and indoor use that resulted in 68% potable water use reduction. More than 76% of all construction waste was recycled or diverted from the landfill. The project also installed energy efficient LED lighting, efficient HVAC systems, smart building controls, highly efficient glazing with sunshades to achieve 24% energy cost savings compared to a baseline modeled in ASHRAE 90.1-2010.
More details on how these efficiencies were achieved as well as other sustainable features of the building will be discussed at the presentation.
